Psalm 80
To the chief Musician *upon Shoshannim-Eduth, A Psalm ||of Asaph.
1Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel,
Thou that leadest aJoseph aalike a flock;
Thou that dwellest bbetween the cherubims, cshine forth.
2dBefore Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh
eStir up thy strength,
And †come and save us.
3fTurn us again, O God,
gAnd cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
4hO Lord God of hosts,
iHow long †wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
5Thou feedest them with kthe bread of tears;
And givest them tears to drink in great lmeasure.
6Thou makest us a strife unto mour neighbours:
And our enemies laugh among themselves.
7fTurn us again, O God of hosts,
And cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
8Thou hast brought na vine out of Egypt:
Thou hast ocast out the heathen, and pplanted it.
9Thou qpreparedst room before it,
And didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.
10The hills were covered with the shadow of it,
And the boughs thereof were like †the goodly cedars.
11She sent out her rboughs unto the sea,
And her sbranches tunto the river.
12Why hast thou then ubroken down her hedges,
So uthat all they which pass by the way do xpluck her?
13The boar yout of the wood doth waste it,
And zthe wild beast of the field doth devour it.
14aReturn, we beseech thee, O God of hosts:
bLook down from heaven, and cbehold,
And visit this vine;
15And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted,
And the dbranch that thou emadest strong for thyself.
16It is fburned with fire, it is fcut down:
They perish gat the rebuke of thy countenance.
17hLet thy hand be upon the man of ithy right hand,
Upon jthe son of man whom thou ehmadest strong for thyself.
18So will not we go back from thee:
kQuicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19lTurn us again, O Lord God of hosts,
Cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Psalm 81
To the chief Musician *upon Gittith, A Psalm ||of Asaph.
1aSing aloud unto God our strength:
bMake a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
2Take a psalm, and bring hither the ctimbrel,
The pleasant dharp with the dpsaltery.
3Blow up the etrumpet fin the new moon,
In gthe time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
4For this was a statute for Israel,
And a law of the God of Jacob.
5This he ordained in hJoseph for ia testimony,
When khe went out ||through the land of Egypt:
lWhere I heard a language that I munderstood not.
6I nremoved his shoulder from the oburden:
His hands †were delivered from the ppots.
7qThou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee;
I ranswered thee in the secret place of thunder:
I sproved thee at the waters of ||Meribah. Selah.
8tHear, O my people, and tI will testify unto thee:
O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
9There shall no ustrange god be in thee;
Neither shalt thou worship any wstrange god.
10xI am the Lord thy God,
Which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
yOpen thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11But my people would not hearken to my voice;
And Israel yywould none of me.
12So I zgave them up ||unto their own hearts’ lust:
And they awalked in their own counsels.
13bOh that my people had hearkened unto me,
And Israel chad walked in my ways!
14I should soon have subdued their enemies,
And dturned my hand against their adversaries.
15eThe haters of the Lord should have ||submitted themselves unto him:
But their time should have endured for ever.
16He should have fed them also †with the finest of the wheat:
And with fhoney out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.
Psalm 82
A Psalm ||of Asaph.
1aGod bstandeth in the congregation of the mighty;
2eHow long will ye judge unjustly,
And fgaccept the persons gof the wicked? Selah.
3†Defend the hpoor and ifatherless:
iDo justice to the afflicted and needy.
4kDeliver the hpoor and needy:
lRid them out of the hand of the wicked.
5mThey know not, neither will they understand;
nThey walk on in darkness:
oAll the foundations of the earth are †out of course.
And all of you are rchildren of the most High.
And fall like one of the princes.
8uArise, O God, judge the earth:
xFor thou shalt inherit all nations.
Psalm 83
1aKeep not thou silence, O God:
bHold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2For, lo, thine enemies cmake a tumult:
And they that dhate thee have elifted up the head.
3fThey have taken crafty counsel against thy people,
And consulted against gthy hidden ones.
4They have said, Come, and let us hcut them off ifrom being a nation;
That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5For they have kconsulted together with one †consent:
They lare confederate against thee:
6The tabernacles of mEdom, and the nIshmaelites;
7psGebal, and mAmmon, and qAmalek;
The rPhilistines with the inhabitants of sTyre;
8stAssur also is joined with them:
†They have uholpen xthe children of Lot. Selah.
9Do unto them as unto the yMidianites;
As to zSisera, as to Jabin, at athe brook of Kison:
10Which perished at bEn-dor:
They became cas dung for the earth.
11Make their nobles like dOreb, and like dZeeb:
Yea, all their eprinces as fZebah, and as fZalmunna:
12Who said, gLet us take to ourselves
The hhouses of God in possession.
13O my God, make them ilike a wheel;
kAs the stubble ipbefore the wind.
14lAs the fire burneth a wood,
And as the flame msetteth the mountains on fire;
15So ipersecute them nwith thy otempest,
And make them afraid with thy ipstorm.
16qFill their faces with shame;
That they may seek thy name, O Lord.
17Let them be rconfounded and troubled for ever;
Yea, let them be rput to shame, and perish:
18That men smay know that thou, twhose name ualone is JEHOVAH,
Art wthe most high over all the earth.
Psalm 84
To the chief Musician *upon Gittith, A Psalm ||for the sons of Korah.
1*How aamiable are bthy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!
2cMy soul longeth, yea, even dfainteth for ethe courts of the Lord:
My heart and my flesh crieth out for fthe living God.
3Yea, the gsparrow hath found an house,
And the gswallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young,
Even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, hmy King, and my God.
4iBlessed are they that dwell in thy house:
They kwill be still praising thee. Selah.
5Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee;
In whose heart are lthe ways of them.
6Who passing through the valley ||of Baca make it a well;
The mrain also †nfilleth the pools.
7They go ||ofrom strength to strength,
Every one of them in Zion pappeareth before God.
8qO Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer:
Give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
And look upon the face of tthine anointed.
10For a day in ethy courts is better than a thousand.
†I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,
Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11For the Lord God is ua sun and sshield:
The Lord will give grace and glory:
xNo good thing will he withhold from them that ywalk uprightly.
12O Lord of hosts,
zBlessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
