9aRejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people:

For bthou hast gone a whoring from thy God,

Thou hast loved ca reward ||upon every cornfloor.

2dThe floor and dthe ||winepress shall not feed them,

And dethe new wine shall eefail in her.

3They shall not dwell in fthe Lord’s land;

But gEphraim shall return to Egypt,

And hthey shall eat unclean things iin Assyria.

4kThey shall not offer wine offerings to the Lord,

lNeither shall they be pleasing unto him:

Their sacrifices shall be unto them as mthe bread of mourners;

nAll that eat thereof shall be polluted:

For their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the Lord.

5What will ye do in othe solemn day,

And in the day of othe feast of the Lord?

6For, lo, they are gone because of †destruction:

gEgypt shall gather them up, pMemphis shall bury them:

||†The pleasant places for their silver, qnettles shall possess them:

qThorns shall be in their tabernacles.

7rThe days of visitation are come,

The days of srecompence are come;

sIsrael shall know it:

tThe prophet is a fool, tthe †spiritual man is umad,

For the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

8vThe watchman of Ephraim was with my God:

But tthe prophet is wa snare of a fowler in all his ways,

And hatred ||in the house of his God.

9They have xdeeply ycorrupted themselves, as zin the days of Gibeah:

Therefore ahe will remember their iniquity, ahe will visit their sins.

10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness;

I saw your fathers as bthe firstripe in the fig tree cat her first time:

But dthey went to eBaal-peor, and fseparated themselves unto gthat shame;

And htheir abominations were according as they loved.

11As for Ephraim, itheir glory shall fly away like a bird,

jFrom the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.

12kThough they bring up their children,

Yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left:

Yea, lwoe also to them mwhen I depart from them!

13Ephraim, as I saw nTyrus, is planted in a pleasant place:

But Ephraim kshall bring forth his children to the murderer.

14Give them, O Lord: what wilt thou give?

Give them oa †miscarrying womb and odry breasts.

15All their wickedness is pin Gilgal: for there I hated them:

For the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house,

I will love them no more:

All qtheir princes are rrevolters.

16Ephraim is smitten, jstheir root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit:

Yea, kthough they bring forth, yet will I slay even †the beloved fruit of their womb.

17My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him:

And tthey shall be wanderers among the nations.

10*Israel is ||an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit aunto himself:

According to the multitude of his fruit bhe hath increased the altars;

According to the goodness of his land cthey have made goodly †images.

2||Their heart is divided; now shall they be dfound faulty:

He shall †break down their altars, he shall spoil their †images.

3For now they shall say, eWe have no king,

Because we feared not the Lord;

What then should a king do to us?

4They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant:

Thus fjudgment springeth up as ghemlock hin the furrows of the field.

5The inhabitants of iSamaria jshall fear because of kthe calves of lBeth-aven:

For the people thereof shall mourn over it,

And ||the priests thereof that rejoiced on it,

For mthe glory thereof, because mit is departed from it.

6nIt shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to oking Jareb:

Ephraim shall receive shame,

And Israel jshall be ashamed of phis own counsel.

7As for iSamaria, eher king is qcut off

As rthe foam upon †the water.

8The high places also of lAven, sthe sin of Israel, shall be destroyed:

tThe thorn and tthe thistle shall come up on their altars;

And uthey shall say to the mountains, Cover us;

And to the hills, Fall on us.

9O Israel, thou hast sinned vfrom the days of Gibeah: there they stood:

wThe battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.

10xIt is in my desire that I should chastise them;

And ythe people shall be gathered against them,

||When they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.

11And Ephraim is as zan heifer that is taught, and loveth ato tread out the corn;

But zI passed over upon †her fair neck:

I will make Ephraim to ride;

Judah shall plow,

And Jacob shall cbreak his clods.

12dSow to yourselves in righteousness,

dReap ein mercy;

fBreak up your gfallow ground:

For it is time to seek the Lord,

Till he come and hrain righteousness upon you.

13iYe have plowed wickedness, diye have reaped iniquity;

Ye have eaten the fruit of lies:

Because thou didst trust in thy way,

In the multitude of thy mighty men.

14Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people,

And jall thy fortresses kshall be spoiled,

As lShalman kspoiled mBeth-arbel in the day of battle:

nThe mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.

15So shall oBeth-el do unto you because of †your great wickedness:

In a morning pshall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
