Psalm 106
1†Praise ye the Lord.
aO give thanks unto the Lord; bfor he is good:
cFor his mercy endureth for ever.
2Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord?
Who can shew forth all his praise?
3Blessed are they that keep judgment,
And he that edoeth righteousness fat all times.
4gRemember me, O Lord, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people:
O visit me with thy salvation;
5That I may see the good of hthy chosen,
That I may rejoice in the gladness of ithy nation,
That I may glory with thine inheritance.
6We have ksinned lwith our fathers,
kmWe have committed iniquity, knwe have done wickedly.
7Our fathers ounderstood not thy wonders in Egypt;
They premembered not the multitude of thy mercies;
But qprovoked him at the sea, even at rthe Red sea.
8Nevertheless he saved them sfor his name’s sake,
That he tmight make his mighty power to be known.
9uHe wrebuked the Red sea also, and it was xdried up:
So yhe led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
10And zhe saved them from the hand of him that hated them,
And aredeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11And bthe waters covered their enemies:
cThere was not one of them left.
12Then dbelieved they his words;
They dsang his praise.
13e†They soon forgat his works;
They fwaited not for his counsel:
14gBut †lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,
And htempted God in ithe desert.
15And jhe gave them their request;
But sent kleanness into their soul.
16lThey envied Moses also in the camp,
And mAaron the saint of the Lord.
17nThe earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
And ocovered nthe company of Abiram.
18And pa fire was kindled in their company;
qThe flame burned up rthe wicked.
19sThey made a calf tin Horeb,
And worshipped the molten image.
20Thus uthey changed their glory
Into xthe similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
21They yforgat God their saviour,
Which had done zgreat things in Egypt;
22Wondrous works in the land aof Ham,
And zterrible things by bthe Red sea.
23cTherefore dhe said that he would destroy them,
Had not Moses ehis chosen stood before him fin the breach,
To turn away his wrath, glest he should destroy them.
24Yea, hthey despised †the pleasant land,
They ibelieved not his word:
25kBut lmurmured in their tents,
And hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.
26Therefore mhe lifted up his hand against them,
†To overthrow them in the wilderness:
27†To overthrow their seed also among the nations,
And to nscatter them in the lands.
28They ojoined themselves also unto pBaal-peor,
And qate the sacrifices of rthe dead.
29Thus they provoked him to anger with stheir inventions:
And the plague brake in upon them.
30Then tstood up Phinehas, and uexecuted judgment:
And so tthe plague was stayed.
31And wthat was counted unto him for righteousness
Unto all generations for evermore.
32xThey yangered him also at the waters of strife,
zSo that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
33Because they aprovoked his spirit,
bSo that he cspake unadvisedly with his lips.
34dThey did not destroy the nations,
Concerning whom ethe Lord commanded them:
35fBut were mingled among the heathen,
And learned their works.
36And gthey served their idols:
hWhich were a snare unto them.
37Yea, ithey sacrificed their sons
And their daughters unto kdevils,
38And shed innocent blood,
Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters,
iWhom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan:
And lthe land was polluted with blood.
39Thus were they mdefiled with their own works,
And mnwent a whoring with otheir own inventions.
40Therefore pwas the wrath of the Lord kindled against qhis people,
Insomuch that he abhorred qhis own inheritance.
41And phe gave them into rthe hand of the heathen;
And they that hated them ruled over them.
42Their enemies also soppressed them,
And they were tbrought into subjection under their hand.
43uMany times did he deliver them;
But they aprovoked him wwith their counsel,
And were ||brought low for their iniquity.
44Nevertheless he regarded xtheir affliction,
45And he aremembered for them his covenant,
And brepented caccording to the multitude of his mercies.
46dHe made them also eto be pitied
Of all those that carried them captives.
47fSave us, O Lord our God,
And ggather us from among the heathen,
To give thanks unto thy holy name,
And to triumph in thy praise.
48hBlessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting:
And let iall the people say, kAmen.
†Praise ye the Lord.
Psalm 107
1aO give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
2Let bthe redeemed of the Lord say so,
cWhom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3And dgathered them out of ethe lands,
From the east, and from the west, from the north, and †from the south.
4They fwandered in the wilderness in ga solitary way;
They found no ggcity to dwell in.
5hHungry and thirsty,
Their soul ifainted in them.
6jThen they cried unto the Lord kin their trouble,
And he delivered them out of their distresses.
7And he led them forth by the lright way,
That they might go to gga city of habitation.
8mOh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness,
And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
9nFor he satisfieth the olonging soul,
And filleth the phungry soul with goodness.
10Such as qsit in darkness and rin the shadow of death,
Being sbound in affliction and iron;
11Because they trebelled against the words of God,
And ucontemned the wcounsel of the most High:
12Therefore he brought down their heart with labour;
They fell down, and there was xnone to help.
13yThen they cried unto the Lord in their trouble,
And he saved them out of their distresses.
14zHe brought them out of adarkness and the shadow of death,
And bbrake their bands in sunder.
15bbOh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness,
And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
16For he hath cbroken the gates of brass,
And cut the bars of iron in sunder.
17dFools because of their transgression,
And because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
18eTheir soul abhorreth all manner of meat;
And fthey draw near unto gthe gates of death.
19hThen they cry unto the Lord in their trouble,
And he saveth them out of their distresses.
20He iksent khis word, and lhealed them,
And mdelivered them from their ndestructions.
21oOh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness,
And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
22And let them psacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And qdeclare his works with †rejoicing.
23rThey that go down to the sea in ships,
That do business in sgreat waters;
24These see the works of the Lord,
And his wonders in the deep.
25For the commandeth, and †raiseth the ustormy wind,
Which lifteth up the waves thereof.
26They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths:
Their soul xis melted because of trouble.
27They reel to and fro, and ystagger zlike a drunken man,
And †are at their wits’ end.
28aThen they cry unto the Lord in their trouble,
And he bringeth them out of their distresses.
29bHe maketh the storm a ccalm,
So that the waves thereof are still.
30Then are they glad because they dbe quiet;
So he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
31eOh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness,
And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
32Let them fexalt him also gin the congregation of the people,
And gpraise him in the assembly of the elders.
33He turneth rivers into a wilderness,
And the watersprings into hdry ground;
34iA fruitful land into †barrenness,
For the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
35kHe turneth the wilderness into kla standing water,
And mdry ground into watersprings.
36And there he maketh the hungry to dwell,
That they may prepare na city for habitation;
37And sow the fields, and plant vineyards,
Which may yield fruits of increase.
38He blesseth them also, so that othey are multiplied greatly;
And suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
39Again, they are minished and brought low
Through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.
40pHe poureth contempt upon princes,
qAnd causeth them to wander in the ||wilderness, where there is no way.
41Yet rsetteth he the poor on high ||from affliction,
And smaketh him families like a flock.
42tThe righteous shall see it, and rejoice:
And all uiniquity shall stop her mouth.
43xWhoso is wise, and will observe these things,
Even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the Lord.
