PSALM 33

Yahweh Is Our Help and Our Shield

^1aSing for joy in Yahweh, O righteous ones;

Praise is ^bbecoming to the upright.

²Give thanks to Yahweh with the ^alyre;

Sing praises to Him with a ^bharp of ten strings.

³Sing to Him a ^anew song;

Play skillfully with ^ba loud shout.

⁴For the word of Yahweh ^ais upright,

And all His work is done ^bin faithfulness.

⁵He ^aloves righteousness and justice;

The ^bearth is full of the lovingkindness of Yahweh.

⁶By the ^aword of Yahweh the heavens were made,

And ^bby the breath of His mouth ^call their host.

⁷He gathers the ^awaters of the sea ¹as a heap;

He lays up the deeps in storehouses.

⁸Let ^aall the earth fear Yahweh;

Let all the inhabitants of the world ^bstand in awe of Him.

⁹For ^aHe spoke, and it was;

He commanded, and it ¹stood.

¹⁰Yahweh ^anullifies the counsel of the nations;

He frustrates the thoughts of the peoples.

¹¹The ^acounsel of Yahweh stands forever,

The ^bthoughts of His heart from generation to generation.

¹²Blessed is the ^anation whose God is Yahweh,

The people whom He has ^bchosen for His own inheritance.

¹³Yahweh ^alooks from heaven;

He ^bsees all the sons of men;

¹⁴From ^athe place of His habitation He gazes

On all the inhabitants of the earth,

¹⁵He who ^aforms ¹the hearts of them all,

He who ^bunderstands all their works.

^16aThe king is not saved by a mighty army;

A warrior is not delivered by great strength.

¹⁷A ^ahorse is a false hope for salvation;

Nor does it provide escape to anyone by its great strength.

¹⁸Behold, ^athe eye of Yahweh is on those who fear Him,

On those who ^bwait for His lovingkindness,

¹⁹To ^adeliver their soul from death

And to keep them alive ^bin famine.

²⁰Our soul ^ais patient for Yahweh;

He is our ^bhelp and our shield.

²¹For our ^aheart is glad in Him,

Because we trust in His holy name.

²²Let Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, be upon us,

As we wait for You.

PSALM 34

Taste and See That Yahweh Is Good

Of David. When he feigned madness before ^†Abimelech, so that he drove him away and he departed.

¹I will ^abless Yahweh at all times;

His ^bpraise shall continually be in my mouth.

²My soul will ^amake its boast in Yahweh;

The ^bhumble will hear it and rejoice.

³O ^amagnify Yahweh with me,

And let us ^bexalt His name together.

Daleth

⁴I ^ainquired of Yahweh, and He answered me,

And ^bdelivered me from all that I dread.

⁵They ^alooked to Him and were radiant,

And their faces will ^bnever be humiliated.

⁶This ¹poor man called out, and ^aYahweh heard him

And saved him out of all his troubles.

⁷The ^aangel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear Him,

And rescues them.

⁸O ^ataste and see that Yahweh is good;

How ^bblessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

⁹Oh, fear Yahweh, you ^aHis saints;

For there is ^bno want to those who fear Him.

¹⁰The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;

But they who inquire of Yahweh shall ^anot be in want of any good thing.

^11aCome, you children, listen to me;

^bI will teach you ^cthe fear of Yahweh.

^12aWho is the man who delights in life

And loves many days that he may ^bsee good?

¹³Guard ^ayour tongue from evil

And your lips from speaking ^bdeceit.

^14aDepart from evil and do good;

Seek peace and ^bpursue it.

Ayin

¹⁵The ^aeyes of Yahweh are toward the righteous

And His ears are open to their cry for help.

¹⁶The ^aface of Yahweh is against evildoers,

To ^bcut off the memory of them from the earth.

¹⁷The righteous ^acry, and Yahweh hears

And delivers them out of all their troubles.

Qoph

¹⁸Yahweh ^ais near to the ^bbrokenhearted

And saves those who are ^1ccrushed in spirit.

Resh

^19aMany are the ^bevils against the righteous,

But Yahweh ^cdelivers him out of them all.

Shin

²⁰He keeps all his bones,

^aNot one of them is broken.

Tav

^21aEvil shall slay the wicked,

And those who hate the righteous will be ¹condemned.

²²Yahweh ^aredeems the soul of His slaves,

And all those who ^btake refuge in Him will not be ¹condemned.
