Psalm 113

Praise to the Merciful God

¹Hallelujah!

Give praise, servants of Yahweh;

praise the name of Yahweh. ^l

²Let the name of Yahweh be praised

both now and forever. ^m

³From the rising of the sun to its setting,

let the name of Yahweh be praised. ⁿ

⁴Yahweh is exalted above all the nations, ^o

His glory above the heavens. ^p

⁵Who is like Yahweh our God—

the One enthroned on high, ^q

⁶who stoops down to look

on the heavens and the earth? ^r

⁷He raises the poor from the dust

and lifts the needy from the garbage pile ^s

⁸in order to seat them with nobles—

with the nobles of His people. ^t

⁹He gives the childless woman a household,

making her the joyful mother of children. ^u

Psalm 114

God’s Deliverance of Israel

¹When Israel came out of Egypt—

the house of Jacob from a people

who spoke a foreign language ^v—

²Judah became His sanctuary,

Israel, His dominion. ^w

³The sea looked and fled; ^x

the Jordan turned back. ^y

⁴The mountains skipped like rams,

the hills, like lambs. ^z

⁵Why was it, sea, that you fled?

Jordan, that you turned back? ^a

⁶Mountains, that you skipped like rams?

Hills, like lambs? ^b

⁷Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord,

at the presence of the God of Jacob, ^c

⁸who turned the rock into a pool of water,

the flint into a spring of water. ^d

Psalm 115

Glory to God Alone

¹Not to us, Yahweh, not to us,

but to Your name give glory

because of Your faithful love, because of Your truth. ^e

²Why should the nations say,

“Where is their God?” ^f

³Our God is in heaven

and does whatever He pleases. ^g

⁴Their idols are silver and gold,

made by human hands. ^h

⁵They have mouths but cannot speak,

eyes, but cannot see.

⁶They have ears but cannot hear,

noses, but cannot smell. ⁱ

⁷They have hands but cannot feel,

feet, but cannot walk. ^j

They cannot make a sound with their throats. ^k

⁸Those who make them are ^ljust like them,

as are all who trust in them. ^m

⁹Israel, ⁿtrust in the Lord! ^o

He is their help and shield. ^p

¹⁰House of Aaron, trust in the Lord! ^q

He is their help and shield. ^r

¹¹You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord! ^s

He is their help and shield.

¹²The Lord remembers us and will bless us.

He will bless the house of Israel;

He will bless the house of Aaron; ^t

¹³He will bless those who fear the Lord—

small and great alike. ^u

¹⁴May the Lord add to your numbers,

both yours and your children’s. ^v

¹⁵May you be blessed by the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth. ^w

¹⁶The heavens are the Lord’s, ^x

but the earth He has given to the human race. ^y

¹⁷It is not the dead who praise the Lord,

nor any of those descending into the silence of death. ^z

¹⁸But we will praise the Lord,

both now and forever. ^a
