Psalm 113–114

PSALM 113

The Lord Exalts the Humble.

¹¹Praise ²the Lord!

^aPraise, O ^bservants of the Lord,

Praise the name of the Lord.

^2aBlessed be the name of the Lord

From this time forth and forever.

^3aFrom the rising of the sun to its setting

The ^bname of the Lord is to be praised.

⁴The Lord is ^ahigh above all nations;

His ^bglory is above the heavens.

^5aWho is like the Lord our God,

Who ^bis enthroned on high,

⁶Who ^1ahumbles Himself to behold

The things that are in heaven and in the earth?

⁷He ^araises the poor from the dust

And lifts the needy from the ash heap,

⁸To make them ^asit with ¹princes,

With the princes of His people.

⁹He ^amakes the barren woman abide in the house

As a joyful mother of children.

PSALM 114

God’s Deliverance of Israel from Egypt.

¹When Israel went forth ^afrom Egypt,

The house of Jacob from a people of ^bstrange language,

²Judah became ^aHis sanctuary,

Israel, ^bHis dominion.

³The ^asea looked and fled;

The ^bJordan turned back.

⁴The mountains ^askipped like rams,

The hills, like lambs.

⁵What ^aails you, O sea, that you flee?

O Jordan, that you turn back?

⁶O mountains, that you skip like rams?

O hills, like lambs?

^7aTremble, O earth, before the Lord,

Before the God of Jacob,

⁸Who ^aturned the rock into a ^bpool of water,

The ^cflint into a fountain of water.
