PSALM 90

From Everlasting to Everlasting, You Are God

A Prayer of †Moses, the man of God.

1Lord, You have been our 1adwelling place from generation to generation.

2Before athe mountains were born

1Or You bbrought forth the earth and the world,

Even cfrom everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

3You aturn man back into dust

And say, “Return, O sons of men.”

4For aa thousand years in Your sight

Are like byesterday when it passes by,

1Or as a cwatch in the night.

5You ahave 1swept them away like a flood, they 2bfall asleep;

In the morning they are like cgrass which 3sprouts anew.

6In the morning it ablossoms and 1sprouts anew;

Toward evening it bwithers away and cdries up.

7For we have been aconsumed by Your anger

And by Your wrath we have been 1dismayed.

8You have aset our iniquities before You,

Our bsecret sins in the light of Your presence.

9For aall our days have declined in Your fury;

We have finished our years like a 1sigh.

10As for the days of our 1life, 2they contain seventy years,

Or if due to might, aeighty years,

Yet their pride is but blabor and wickedness;

For soon it is gone and we cfly away.

11Who knows the apower of Your anger

And Your fury, according to the bfear 1that is due You?

121So ateach us to number our days,

That we may 2bpresent to You a heart of wisdom.

13aReturn, O Yahweh; bhow long will it be?

And 1be csorry for Your slaves.

14O asatisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness,

That we may bsing for joy and be glad all our days.

15aMake us glad 1according to the days You have afflicted us,

And the byears we have seen 2evil.

16Let Your awork appear to Your slaves

And Your bmajesty 1to their sons.

17Let the afavor of the Lord our God be upon us;

And bestablish for us the work of our hands;

Establish the work of our hands.

PSALM 91

In the Shadow of the Almighty

1He who abides in the ashelter of the Most High

Will abide in the bshadow of the Almighty.

2I will say to Yahweh, “My arefuge and my bfortress,

My God, in whom I ctrust!”

3For it is He who delivers you from the asnare of the trapper

And from the destructive bpestilence.

4He will acover you with His pinions,

And bunder His wings you will take refuge;

His ctruth is a dlarge shield and bulwark.

5You awill not be afraid of bterror by night,

Or carrow that flies by day;

6Of apestilence that moves in darkness,

Or of bdestruction that devastates at noon.

7A thousand may fall at your side

And ten thousand at your right hand,

But ait shall not approach you.

8You will only look on with your eyes

And asee the recompense of the wicked.

91For you have made Yahweh—amy refuge,

The Most High—byour dwelling place.

10aNo evil will befall you,

And no plague will come near your 1tent.

11For He will command aHis angels concerning you,

To guard you in all your ways.

12On their hands they will abear you up,

Lest you strike your foot against a stone.

13You will atread upon the fierce lion and cobra,

The young lion and the 1serpent you will trample down.

14“aBecause he has loved Me, therefore I will protect him;

I will bset him securely on high, because he has cknown My name.

15“He will acall upon Me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in his 1distress;

I will rescue him and bhonor him.

16“With 1a along life I will satisfy him

And bI will show him My salvation.”

PSALM 92

How Great Are Your Works, O Yahweh

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.

1It is agood to give thanks to Yahweh

And to bsing praises to Your name, O Most High;

2To adeclare Your lovingkindness in the morning

And Your bfaithfulness 1by night,

31With the aten-stringed lute and with the bharp,

2With resounding music 3upon the clyre.

4For You, O Yahweh, have made me glad by 1what You ahave done,

I will bsing for joy at the cworks of Your hands.

5How agreat are Your works, O Yahweh!

Your 1bthoughts are very cdeep.

6A asenseless man does not know,

And a bfool does not understand this:

7That when the wicked aflourished like grass

And all bthe workers of iniquity blossomed,

It was only that they might be cdestroyed forevermore.

8But You are aon high forever, O Yahweh.

9For, behold, Your enemies, O Yahweh,

For, behold, aYour enemies will perish;

All the workers of iniquity will be bscattered.

10But You have raised up my ahorn like that of the wild ox;

I have 1been banointed with fresh oil.

11And my eye has alooked exultantly upon 1my foes,

My ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me.

12The arighteous man will 1flourish like the palm tree,

He will grow like a bcedar in Lebanon.

13aPlanted in the house of Yahweh,

They will flourish bin the courts of our God.

14They will still 1ayield fruit in old age;

They shall be 2rich and fresh,

15To 1declare that aYahweh is upright;

He is my brock, and there is cno unrighteousness in Him.

PSALM 93

Yahweh Reigns Forevermore

1aYahweh 1reigns, He is bclothed with majesty;

Yahweh has cclothed and girded Himself with strength;

Indeed, the dworld is established, it will not be shaken.

2Your athrone is established from of old;

You bare from everlasting.

3The arivers have lifted up, O Yahweh,

The rivers have lifted up their voice,

The rivers lift up their pounding waves.

4More than the voices of many waters,

Than the mighty breakers of the sea,

Yahweh aon high is mighty.

5Your atestimonies are very faithful;

bHoliness befits Your house,

O Yahweh, 1forevermore.

PSALM 94

God of Vengeance, Shine Forth

1O Yahweh, God of 1avengeance,

God of 2vengeance, 3bshine forth!

2aBe lifted up, O bJudge of the earth,

Render recompense cto the proud.

3How long shall the wicked, O Yahweh,

How long shall the awicked exult?

4They pour forth words, they aspeak arrogantly;

All workers of iniquity bvaunt themselves.

5They acrush Your people, O Yahweh,

And bafflict Your inheritance.

6They aslay the widow and the sojourner

And murder the orphans.

7aThey have said, “Yah does not see,

Nor does the God of Jacob discern.”

8Discern, you asenseless among the people;

And when will you have insight, byou fools?

9He who aplanted the ear, 1does He not hear?

He who formed the eye, 2does He not see?

10He who 1adisciplines the nations, will He not rebuke,

Even He who bteaches man knowledge?

11Yahweh aknows the thoughts of man,

1That they are vanity.

12Blessed is the man whom aYou discipline, O Yah,

And bwhom You teach out of Your law;

13That You may grant him acalm from the bdays of calamity,

Until ca pit is dug for the wicked.

14For aYahweh will not abandon His people,

Nor will He bforsake His inheritance.

15For 1ajudgment will 2again be righteous,

And all the upright in heart will 3follow it.

16Who will aarise for me against evildoers?

Who will take his stand for me bagainst workers of iniquity?

17If aYahweh had not been my help,

My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.

18If I should say, “aMy foot has stumbled,”

Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, will hold me up.

19When my anxious thoughts 1multiply within me,

Your aconsolations delight my soul.

20Can a 1athrone of destruction be allied with You,

One bwhich forms 2trouble by statute?

21They aband themselves together against the 1life of the righteous

And bcondemn 2the innocent to death.

22But Yahweh has been my astronghold,

And my God the brock of my refuge.

23He has abrought back their 1iniquity upon them

And will 2bdestroy them in their evil;

Yahweh our God will 3destroy them.

PSALM 95

Let Us Kneel Before Yahweh Our Maker

1Oh come, let us asing for joy to Yahweh,

Let us make a loud shout to bthe rock of our salvation.

2Let us acome before His presence bwith 1thanksgiving,

Let us make a loud shout to Him cwith songs of praise.

3For Yahweh is a agreat God

And a great King babove all gods,

4In whose hand are the adepths of the earth,

The peaks of the mountains are His also.

51The sea is His, for it was He awho made it,

And His hands formed the dry land.

6Come, let us aworship and bow down,

Let us bkneel before Yahweh our cMaker.

7For He is our God,

And awe are the people of His bpasture and the sheep of His hand.

cToday, 1if you hear His voice,

8Do not harden your hearts, as at 1aMeribah,

As in the day of 2bMassah in the wilderness,

9“When your fathers atried Me,

They tested Me, though they had seen My work.

10“For aforty years I loathed that generation,

And said they are a people who wander in their heart,

And they do not know My ways.

11“Therefore I aswore in My anger,

They shall never enter into My brest.”

PSALM 96

Ascribe to Yahweh Glory and Strength

1aSing to Yahweh a bnew song;

Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.

2Sing to Yahweh, bless His name;

aProclaim good news of His salvation from day to day.

3Recount aHis glory among the nations,

His wondrous deeds among all the peoples.

4For agreat is Yahweh and bgreatly to be praised;

He is 1more 2cfearsome dthan all gods.

5For aall the gods of the peoples are 1idols,

But bYahweh made the heavens.

6aSplendor and majesty are before Him,

Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

71Ascribe to Yahweh, O afamilies of the peoples,

2bAscribe to Yahweh glory and strength.

8Ascribe to Yahweh the aglory of His name;

Lift up 1an boffering and come into His courts.

9aWorship Yahweh in the splendor of holiness;

bTremble before Him, all the earth.

10Say among the nations, “aYahweh 1reigns;

Indeed, the bworld is established, it will not be shaken;

He will crender justice to the peoples with 2equity.”

11Let the aheavens be glad, and let the bearth rejoice;

Let cthe sea 1roar, as well as its fullness;

12Let the afield exult, and all that is in it.

Then all the btrees of the forest will sing for joy

13Before Yahweh, afor He is coming,

For He is coming to judge the earth.

bHe will judge the world in righteousness

And the peoples in His faithfulness.

PSALM 97

Remember His Holy Name

1aYahweh 1reigns, let the bearth rejoice;

Let the many ccoastlands be glad.

2aClouds and thick darkness are all around Him;

bRighteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

3aFire goes before Him

And bburns up His adversaries all around.

4His alightnings light up the world;

The earth sees and btrembles.
