Psalm LXXXI.

To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph.

aSing aloud unto God our strength:

bMake a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

2Take a psalm, and bring hither the ctimbrel,

The pleasant dharp with the dpsaltery.

3Blow up the etrumpet fin the new moon,

In gthe time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

4For this was a statute for Israel,

And a law of the God of Jacob.

5This he ordained in hJoseph for ia testimony,

When khe went out through the land of Egypt:

lWhere I heard a language that I munderstood not.

6I nremoved his shoulder from the oburden:

His hands were delivered from the ppots.

7qThou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee;

I ranswered thee in the secret place of thunder:

I sproved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

8tHear, O my people, and tI will testify unto thee:

O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

9There shall no ustrange god be in thee;

Neither shalt thou worship any wstrange god.

10xI am the Lord thy God,

Which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:

yOpen thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11But my people would not hearken to my voice;

And Israel yywould none of me.

12So I zgave them up unto their own heart’s lust:

And they awalked in their own counsels.

13bO that my people had hearkened unto me,

And Israel chad walked in my ways!

14I should soon have subdued their enemies,

And dturned my hand against their adversaries.

15eThe haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him:

But their time should have endured for ever.

16He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat:

And with fhoney out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

Psalm LXXXII.

A Psalm of Asaph.

aGod bstandeth in the congregation of the mighty;

cHe judgeth among the dgods.

2eHow long will ye judge unjustly,

And fgaccept the persons gof the wicked? Selah.

3Defend the hpoor and ifatherless:

iDo justice to the afflicted and needy.

4kDeliver the hpoor and needy:

lRid them out of the hand of the wicked.

5mThey know not, neither will they understand;

nThey walk on in darkness:

oAll the foundations of the earth are out of course.

6pI have said, Ye are qgods;

And all of you are rchildren of the most High.

7But sye shall die tlike men,

And fall like one of the princes.

8uArise, O God, judge the earth:

xFor thou shalt inherit all nations.

Psalm LXXXIII.

A Song or Psalm of Asaph.

aKeep not thou silence, O God:

bHold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

2For lo, thine enemies cmake a tumult:

And they that dhate thee have elift up the head.

3fThey have taken crafty counsel against thy people,

And consulted against gthy hidden ones.

4They have said, Come, and let us hcut them off ifrom being a nation;

That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

5For they have kconsulted together with one consent:

They lare confederate against thee:

6The tabernacles of mEdom, and the nIshmaelites;

Of mMoab, and the oHagarenes;

7psGebal, and mAmmon, and qAmalek;

The rPhilistines with the inhabitants of sTyre;

8stAssur also is joined with them:

They have uholpen xthe children of Lot. Selah.

9Do unto them as unto the yMidianites;

As to zSisera, as to Jabin, at athe brook of Kison:

10Which perished at bEn-dor:

They became cas dung for the earth.

11Make their nobles like dOreb, and like dZeeb:

Yea, all their eprinces as fZebah, and as fZalmunna:

12Who said, gLet us take to ourselves

The hhouses of God in possession.

13O my God, make them ilike a wheel;

kAs the stubble ipbefore the wind.

14lAs the fire burneth a wood,

And as the flame msetteth the mountains on fire;

15So ipersecute them nwith thy otempest,

And make them afraid with thy ipstorm.

16qFill their faces with shame;

That they may seek thy name, O Lord.

17Let them be rconfounded and troubled for ever;

Yea, let them be rput to shame, and perish:

18That men smay know that thou, twhose name ualone is JEHOVAH,

Art wthe most High over all the earth.
