aAnd he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into bhis own city. 2cAnd behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus dseeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins ebe forgiven thee. 3And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. 4And Jesus fknowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 5For whether is easier, to say, Thy esins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? 6But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. 7And he arose, and departed to his house. 8But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and ffglorified God, which had given such power unto men.

9gAnd as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named ggMatthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. 10And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, hmany publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master iwith publicans and sinners? 12But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13But go ye and learn jwhat that meaneth, kI will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, lbut sinners to repentance.

14mThen came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees nfast oft, but thy disciples fast not? 15And Jesus said unto them, oCan pthe children of the ppbridechamber mourn, as long as the qbridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and qqthen shall they fast. 16No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment; for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else rthe bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

18sWhile he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and tworshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. 19And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. 20(And behold, a woman, which was diseased uwith an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched vthe hem of his garment: 21for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; wthy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.) 23And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the xminstrels and the people making a noise, 24he said unto them, Give place: yfor the maid is not dead, but zsleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 25But awhen the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. 26And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

27And when Jesus departed thence, btwo blind men followed him, crying, and saying, cThou Son of David, have mercy on us. 28And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, wBelieve ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29Then cctouched he their eyes, saying, wAccording to your faith be it unto you. 30And their eyes were opened; and Jesus dstraitly charged them, saying eSee that no man know it. 31fBut they, when they were departed, ffspread abroad his fame in all that country.

32gAs they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man hpossessed with a devil. 33And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. 34But the Pharisees said, iHe casteth out the devils through the prince of the devils. 35kAnd Jesus went about all the cities and villages, lteaching in their synagogues, and preaching the lgospel of the kingdom, and lhealing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36But mwhen he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were nscattered abroad, oas sheep having no shepherd. 37Then saith he unto his disciples, pThe harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38qpray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will rsend forth labourers into his harvest.

X.And awhen he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. 2bNow the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, cwho is called Peter, and dAndrew his brother; eJames, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and fMatthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus; 4Simon gthe Canaanite, and Judas hIscariot, who also betrayed him. 5These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into ithe way of the Gentiles, and into any city of kthe Samaritans enter ye not: 6lbut go rather to the mlost sheep of the house of Israel. 7nAnd as ye go, preach, saying, oThe kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: pfreely ye have received, freely give. 9qProvide neither gold, nor silver, nor rbrass in your purses; 10nor sscrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: tfor the workman is worthy of his meat. 11And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is uworthy; and there abide till ye go thence. 12And when ye come into a house wsalute it. 13And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not uworthy, let your peace xreturn to you. 14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, yshake off the dust of your feet. 15zVerily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

16aBehold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore bwise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17But beware of men: for cthey will deliver you up to the dgcouncils, and ethey will scourge you in their gsynagogues; 18and ye shall be brought before fgovernors and kings for my sake, fffor a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19gBut when they deliver you up, htake no thought how or what ye shall speak: ifor it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20kFor it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. 21lAnd the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22mAnd ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: nbut he that endureth to the end shall be saved. 23But when they nnpersecute you in this city, oflee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, ptill the Son of man be come. 24qThe disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. 25It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. rIf they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? 26Fear them not therefore: sfor there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28And tfear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather ufear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in xhell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30But ythe very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31Fear ye not therefore, zye are of more value than many sparrows. 32Whosoever therefore shall aconfess me before men, bhim will I confess also before cmy Father which is in heaven. 33But whosoever shall ddeny me before men, him will I also deny before cmy Father which is in heaven.

34eThink not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36And fa man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37gHe that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38hAnd he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39iHe that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

40kHe that receiveth you receiveth me, and lhe that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41He mthat receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. 42nAnd whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
