CHAPTER 19

Hallelujah!

1After these things I heard something like a aloud voice of a great crowd in heaven, saying,

“bHallelujah! cSalvation and dglory and power belong to our God;

2abecause His bjudgments are ctrue and righteous; for He has judged the dgreat harlot who was corrupting the earth with her sexual immorality, and He has eavenged the blood of His slaves shed by her hand.”

3And a second time they said, “aHallelujah! bHer smoke rises up forever and ever.”

4And the atwenty-four elders and the bfour living creatures cfell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, “dAmen. eHallelujah!”

5And a voice came from the throne, saying,

“aGive praise to our God, all you His slaves, byou who fear Him, the small and the great.”

6Then I heard something like athe voice of a great crowd and like bthe sound of many waters and like the csound of mighty peals of thunder, saying,

“dHallelujah! For the eLord our God, the Almighty, reigns.

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

7“Let us rejoice and be glad and agive the glory to Him, for bthe marriage of the Lamb has come and His 1cbride has made herself ready.”

8And it was given to her to clothe herself in afine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the brighteous acts of the saints.

9Then ahe *said to me, “bWrite, ‘cBlessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he *said to me, “dThese are true words of God.”

10Then aI fell at his feet to worship him. bBut he *said to me, “1Do not do that! I am a cfellow slave with you and your brothers who dhave the witness of Jesus. Worship God! For the witness of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

The Rider on a White Horse

11Then I saw aheaven opened, and behold, a bwhite horse, and He who sits on it is called cFaithful and True, and in drighteousness He judges and wages war.

12His aeyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many bdiadems; having a cname written on Him which no one knows except Himself,

13and being clothed with a agarment dipped in blood, His name is also called bThe Word of God.

14And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in afine linen, bwhite and clean, were following Him on white horses.

15aAnd from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may bstrike down the nations, and He will 1crule them with a rod of iron; and dHe treads the wine press of the wrath of the rage of God, the Almighty.

16And He has on His garment and on His thigh aa name written, “bKING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

17Then I saw 1an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to aall the birds which fly in bmidheaven, “cCome, assemble for the great supper of God,

18so that you may aeat the flesh of kings and the flesh of 1commanders and the flesh of strong men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, bboth free men and slaves, and csmall and great.”

19Then I saw athe beast and bthe kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war with Him who csits on the horse and with His army.

The Beast and False Prophet Are Seized

20And the beast was seized, and with him the afalse prophet who bdid the signs 1cin his presence, by which he ddeceived those who had received the emark of the beast and those who fworshiped his image. These two were thrown alive into the glake of hfire which burns with 2brimstone.

21And the rest were killed with the sword which acame from the mouth of Him who bsits on the horse, and call the birds were filled with their flesh.

CHAPTER 20

Christ’s Thousand Year Reign

1Then I saw aan angel coming down from heaven, having the bkey of the abyss and a great chain 1in his hand.

2And he laid hold of the adragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bbound him for a thousand years;

3and he threw him into the aabyss, and shut it and bsealed it over him, so that he would cnot deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were finished. After these things he must be released for a short time.

4Then I saw athrones, and bthey sat on them, and cjudgment was given to them. And I saw dthe souls of those who had been beheaded because of 1their ewitness of Jesus and because of the word of God, and who also had not fworshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the gmark on their forehead and on their hand. And they hcame to life and ireigned with Christ for a thousand years.

5The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were finished. aThis is the first resurrection.

6aBlessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection. Over these the bsecond death has no authority, but they will be cpriests of God and of Christ and will dreign with Him for a thousand years.

The Defeat of Satan

7And when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be areleased from his prison,

8and will come out to adeceive the nations which are in the bfour corners of the earth, cGog and Magog, to dgather them together for the war; the number of them is like the esand of the 1seashore.

9And they acame up on the 1broad plain of the earth and surrounded the bcamp of the saints and the cbeloved city, and dfire came down from heaven and devoured them.

10And athe devil who bdeceived them was thrown into the clake of fire and 1brimstone, where the dbeast and the efalse prophet are also, and they will be ftormented day and night forever and ever.

The Great White Throne Judgment

11Then I saw a great white athrone and Him who sits upon it, from whose 1presence bearth and heaven fled away, and cno place was found for them.

12Then I saw the dead, the agreat and the small, standing before the throne, and 1bbooks were opened; and another 2book was opened, which is cthe book of life. And the dead dwere judged from the things which were written in the 3books, eaccording to their deeds.

13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and adeath and Hades bgave up the dead which were in them, and they were judged, every one of them caccording to their deeds.

14Then adeath and Hades were thrown into bthe lake of fire. This is the csecond death, the lake of fire.

15And if 1anyone’s name was not found written in athe book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

CHAPTER 21

The New Heaven and Earth

1Then I saw aa new heaven and a new earth; for bthe first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.

2And I saw athe holy city, bnew Jerusalem, ccoming down out of heaven from God, dmade ready as a bride adorned for her husband.

3And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, athe tabernacle of God is among men, and He will 1bdwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among 2them,

4and He will awipe away every tear from their eyes; and bthere will no longer be any death; cthere will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain. dThe first things passed away.”

5And aHe who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am bmaking all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for cthese words are faithful and true.”

6Then He said to me, “aThey are done. I am the bAlpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. cI will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the dwater of life without cost.

7“aHe who overcomes will inherit these things, and bI will be his God and he will be My son.

8“aBut for the cowardly and 1unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in bthe lake that burns with fire and 2brimstone, which is the csecond death.”

9aThen one of the seven angels who have the bseven bowls 1full of the cseven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, “dCome here, I will show you the ebride, the wife of the Lamb.”

New Jerusalem, the Holy City

10And ahe carried me away 1bin the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me cthe holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,

11having athe glory of God. Her 1brilliance was like precious stone, as a bstone of ccrystal-clear jasper.

121It had a great and high wall. 2It had atwelve bgates and at those gates, twelve angels; and names 3have been written on those gates, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel.

13There were three gates on the east and three gates on the north and three gates on the south and three gates on the west.

14And the wall of the city had atwelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the btwelve apostles of the Lamb.

15And the one who spoke with me had a 1gold measuring arod to measure the city and its bgates and its wall.

16And the city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the 1rod, 212,000 stadia; its length and width and height are equal.

17And he measured its wall, 1144 cubits, according to ahuman 2measurements, which are also bangelic measurements.

18And the material of the wall was ajasper, and the city was bpure gold, like pure cglass.

19aThe foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was bjasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, cemerald;

20the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, asardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.

21And the twelve agates were twelve bpearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was cpure gold, like transparent dglass.

22And I saw ano sanctuary in it, for the bLord God the Almighty and the cLamb are its sanctuary.

23And the city ahas no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for bthe glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the cLamb.

24aAnd the nations will walk by its light, and the bkings of the earth 1will bring their glory into it.

25aAnd its gates bwill never be closed by day, for cthere will be no night there;

26and athey will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.

27And anothing defiled, and no one who practices…
