Awake, awake,z Zion,

clothe yourself with strength!a

Put on your garments of splendor,b

Jerusalem, the holy city.c

The uncircumcisedd and defilede

will not enter you again.f

Shake off your dust;g

rise up,h sit enthroned, Jerusalem.

Free yourself from the chains on your neck,i

Daughter Zion,j now a captive.

For this is what the Lord says:

“You were sold for nothing,k

and without moneyl you will be redeemed.m”

For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“At first my people went down to Egyptn to live;

lately, Assyriao has oppressed them.

“And now what do I have here?” declares the Lord.

“For my people have been taken away for nothing,

and those who rule them mock,”

declares the Lord.

“And all day long

my name is constantly blasphemed.p

Therefore my people will knowq my name;r

therefore in that days they will know

that it is I who foretoldt it.

Yes, it is I.”

How beautiful on the mountainsu

are the feet of those who bring good news,v

who proclaim peace,w

who bring good tidings,

who proclaim salvation,

who say to Zion,

“Your God reigns!”x

Listen! Your watchmeny lift up their voices;z

together they shout for joy.a

When the Lord returnsb to Zion,c

they will see it with their own eyes.

Burst into songs of joyd together,

you ruinse of Jerusalem,

for the Lord has comfortedf his people,

he has redeemed Jerusalem.g

The Lord will lay bare his holy armh

in the sight of all the nations,i

and all the ends of the earthj will see

the salvationk of our God.

Depart,l depart, go out from there!

Touch no unclean thing!m

Come out from it and be pure,n

you who carry the articleso of the Lord’s house.

But you will not leave in hastep

or go in flight;

for the Lord will go before you,q

the God of Israel will be your rear guard.r

The Suffering and Glory of the Servant

See, my servanta will act wisely;

he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.b

Just as there were many who were appalledc at him—

his appearance was so disfiguredd beyond that of any human being

and his form marred beyond human likenesse—

so he will sprinklef many nations,

and kingsg will shut their mouthsh because of him.

For what they were not told, they will see,

and what they have not heard, they will understand.i
