aMy God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of bmy roaring?
2O my God, I cry bbin the daytime, but thou hearest not;
And in the night season, and am not silent.
3But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the cpraises of Israel.
4Our fathers trusted in thee:
They trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5They dcried unto thee, and were delivered:
eThey trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
6But I am fa worm, and no man;
A ffreproach of men, and gdespised of the people.
7hAll they that see me laugh me to scorn:
They shoot out the lip, ithey shake the head, saying,
8jHe trusted on the Lord that khe would deliver him:
Let him deliver him, seeing he ldelighted in him.
9But thou art he that mntook me out of the womb:
Thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.
10I was ncast upon thee from the womb:
Thou art my God ofrom my mother’s belly.
11Be not far from me; for trouble is near;
For there is none to help.
12Many bulls have compassed me:
pStrong qbulls of Bashan have rbeset me round.
13sThey gaped upon me with their mouths,
As a ravening and a roaring lion.
14I am sspoured out like water,
And all my bones are out of joint:
It is tmelted in the midst of my bowels.
15My strength is xdried up like a potsherd;
And ymy tongue cleaveth to my jaws;
And thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16For zdogs have compassed me:
The assembly of the wicked have zzinclosed me:
aThey pierced my hands and my feet.
17I may tell all my bones:
bThey look and stare upon me.
18cThey part my garments among them,
And cast lots upon my vesture.
19But be not thou far dfrom me, O Lord:
O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20Deliver my soul from the sword;
My darling from the power of the edog.
21fSave me from the lion’s mouth:
For thou hast gheard me from the horns of hthe unicorns.
22iI will declare thy name unto jmy brethren:
In the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
23kYe that fear the Lord, praise him;
All ye the seed of Jacob, lglorify him;
And fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Neither hath he hid his face from him;
But mwhen he cried unto him, he heard.
25My praise shall be of thee nin the great congregation:
oI will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26pThe meek shall eat and be satisfied:
They shall praise the Lord that seek him:
qYour heart shall rlive for ever.
27sAll the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord:
And all the tkindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28uFor the kingdom is the Lord’s:
And he is the governor among the nations.
29All they that be vfat upon earth shall eat and worship:
All they that go down to the dust shall wbow before him:
And none can keep alive his own soul.
30A seed shall serve him;
xIt shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
31yThey shall come, and shall declare his righteousness
zUnto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
Psalm XXIII.
A Psalm of David.
The Lord is amy shepherd; bI shall not want.
2cHe maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
dHe leadeth me beside the still waters.
3He restoreth my soul:
eHe leadeth me in the paths of righteousness ffor his name’s sake.
4Yea, ffthough I walk through the valley of gthe shadow of death,
hI will fear no evil: ifor thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5jThou preparest a table before me kin the presence of mine enemies:
Thou lanointest my head with oil; my mcup runneth over.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Psalm XXIV.
A Psalm of David.
aThe earth is the Lord’s, and bthe fulness thereof;
The world, and they that dwell therein.
2For he hath cfounded it dupon the seas,
And established it upon the floods.
3eWho shall ascend into the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his fholy place?
4gHe that hath hclean hands, and ia pure heart;
Who hath not jlift up his soul unto vanity,
Nor sworn deceitfully.
5He shall receive the blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from kthe God of his salvation.
6This is the generation of them that seek him,
That lseek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
7mLift up your heads, O ye gates;
And be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors;
And nthe King of glory shall come in.
8Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
9Lift up your heads, O ye gates;
Even lift them up, ye everlasting doors;
And the King of glory shall come in.
10Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
Psalm XXV.
A Psalm of David.
Unto thee, O Lord, do I alift up my soul.
2O my God, I btrust in thee: clet me not be ashamed,
dLet not mine enemies triumph over me.
3Yea, let enone that wait on thee be ashamed:
eeLet them be ashamed which ftransgress without cause.
4gShew me thy ways, O Lord; ggTeach me thy paths.
5hLead me in thy truth, and teach me:
For thou art the God of my salvation;
On thee do I wait all the day.
6Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and ithy lovingkindnesses;
For they have been ever of old.
7Remember not jthe sins of my youth, nor my transgressions:
kAccording to thy mercy remember thou me
For thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.
8kkGood and upright is the Lord:
hTherefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9The meek will he lguide in judgment:
And the meek will he lteach his way.
10All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth
Unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
11mFor thy name’s sake, O Lord,
Pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
12What man is he that feareth the Lord?
nHim shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
13His soul shall odwell at ease;
And oohis seed pshall inherit the earth.
14qThe secret of the Lord is with them that fear him;
And he will shew them his covenant.
15rMine eyes are ever towards the Lord;
For he shall pluck my feet out of sthe net.
16tTurn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me;
For I am udesolate and afflicted.
17The troubles of my heart are enlarged:
O bring thou me out of my distresses.
18wLook upon mine affliction and my pain;
And forgive all my sins.
19Consider mine enemies; for they are many;
And they hate me with cruel hatred.
20O keep my soul, and deliver me:
xLet me not be ashamed; yfor I put my trust in thee.
21Let integrity and uprightness preserve me;
For I wait on thee.
22zRedeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.
Psalm XXVI.
A Psalm of David.
aJudge me, O Lord; for I have bwalked in mine integrity:
cI have trusted also in the Lord; therefore I shall not dslide.
2eExamine me, O Lord, and prove me;
3For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes:
And hI have walked in thy truth.
4iI have not sat with kvain persons,
Neither will I go in with dissemblers.
5I have lhated the congregation of evildoers;
And iwill not sit with the wicked.
6mI will wash mine hands in innocency:
So will I compass thine altar, O Lord:
7That I may npublish with the voice of thanksgiving,
And tell of all thy owondrous works.
8pLord, I have loved the habitation of thy house,
And qthe place where thine honour dwelleth.
9Gather not my soul with sinners,
Nor my life with bloody men:
10In whose hands is mischief,
And their right hand is full of rbribes.
11But as for me, I will swalk in mine integrity:
Redeem me, and be merciful unto me.
12My foot standeth in an teven place:
uIn the congregations will I bless the Lord.
Psalm XXVII.
A Psalm of David.
The Lord is amy light and bmy salvation; cwhom shall I fear?
The Lord is bthe strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to deat up my flesh,
They stumbled and fell.
3eThough a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear:
Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4fOne thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after;
That I may gdwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold the hbeauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
5For in the time of trouble he shall ihide me in his pavilion:
In the secret of his tabernacle shall he ihide me;
He shall jset me up upon a rock.
6And now shall kmine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me:
Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;
I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
7lHear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice:
lHave mercy also upon me, and answer me.
8When thou saidst, mSeek ye my face; my heart said unto thee,
Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
9nHide not thy face far from me;
Put not thy servant away in anger:
Thou hast been my help; leave me not,
Neither forsake me, oO God of my salvation.
10When my father and pmy mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take me up.
11qTeach me thy way, O Lord,
And lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
12rDeliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies:
For sfalse witnesses are risen up against me, and such as tbreathe out cruelty.
13I had fainted, unless I had believed
To see the goodness of the Lord uin the land of the living.
14xWait on the Lord:
yBe of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart:
Wait, I say, on the Lord.
Psalm XXVIII.
A Psalm of David.
Unto thee will I cry, O Lord amy rock; bbe not silent to me:
Lest, if thou be silent to me, cI become like cdthem that go down into the pit.
2iiHear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee,
When I ddlift up my hands etoward thy holy foracle.
3Draw me not away with the wicked, and with ffthe workers of iniquity,
gWhich speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
4hGive them according to their deeds,
And according to the wickedness of their endeavours:
Give them after the work of their hands;
Render to them hhtheir desert.
5Because ithey regard not the works of the Lord,
Nor the operation of his hands,
He shall destroy them,…
