After these things the Lord aappointed bother cseventy also, and dsent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. 2Therefore said he unto them, eThe harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. 3Go your ways: fbehold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. 4gCarry neither hpurse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and isalute no man by the way. 5And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, kPeace be to this house. 6And if lthe son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. 7And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. 8And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat msuch things as are set before you: 9nand heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, oThe kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. 10But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, 11Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off pagainst you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that othe kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. 12But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable qin that day for Sodom, than for that city.
13rWoe unto thee, Chorazin, woe unto thee, Bethsaida: for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, ssitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon qat the judgment, than for you. 15And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell. 16tHe that heareth you heareth me; and uhe that despiseth you despiseth me; xand he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
17And ythe seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, zeven the devils are subject unto us through thy name. 18And he said unto them, aI beheld Satan as lightning bfall from heaven. 19Behold, I give unto you power cto tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, dthat the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because eyour names are written in heaven.
21fIn that hour Jesus grejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so hit seemed good in thy sight. 22All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him. 23And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, iBlessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: 24for I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
25And behold, a certain jlawyer stood up, and ktempted him, saying, lMaster, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 26He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? 27And he answering said, mThou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and nthy neighbour as thyself. 28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and othou shalt live. 29But he, willing to pjustify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour? 30And Jesus answering said, A certain man qwent down from Jerusalem to rJericho, and fell among sthieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31And by chance there qcame down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he tpassed by on the other side. 32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and tpassed by on the other side. 33But a certain uSamaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34and went to him, and xbound up his wounds, pouring in xoil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. 36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the sthieves? 37And he said, He that yshewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
38Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named zMartha areceived him into her house. 39And she had a sister called bMary, which also csat at Jesus feet, and heard his word. 40But zMartha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41And Jesus answered and said unto her, zMartha, Martha, dthou art careful and troubled about many things: 42but eone thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen fthat good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
XI.And it came to pass that, aas he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say,
bOur Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3Give us day by day our daily bread. 4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
5And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him cat midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 6for a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing dto set before him: 7and he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee? 8I say unto you, eThough he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 9And I say unto you, fAsk, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a gscorpion? 13If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: hhow much more shall your heavenly Father give ithe Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
14jAnd he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. 15But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. 16And other, ktempting him, lsought of him a sign from heaven. 17mBut he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. 18If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. 19And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your nsons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. 20But if I with othe finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. 21When a strong man armed keepeth his ppalace, his goods are in peace: 22but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him qall his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. 23rHe that is not with me is against me: and he that sgathereth not with me tscattereth. 24uWhen the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
27And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company xlift up her voice, and said unto him, yBlessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. 28But he said, zYea rather, ablessed are they bthat hear the word of God, and ckeep it.
29And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, dThis is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. 30For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. 31eThe queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and fcondemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 32gThe men of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall fcondemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
33hNo man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, ithat they which come in may see the light. 34kThe light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when lthine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. 35Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. 36If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no…
