Zeboiim (צְבֹאיִם, tsevoyim). One of the five “cities of the plain” destroyed along with Sodom and Gomorrah according to Deuteronomy (Deut 29:23; compare Gen 19:24–29). It is described as part of the Canaanite territory in Gen 10:19. The city is mentioned as having a king who was allied with the king of Sodom (and the three other kings of the cities of the plain) in the events leading up to Lot’s capture (Gen 14:2, 8). Hosea the prophet used Zeboiim and Admah as examples of wicked cities God destroyed (Hos 11:8). Zeboiim should not be confused with the two towns named Zeboim of 1 Sam 13:18 and Neh 11:34.
