Seleucus III Ceraunus (ca. 243–223 bc). Son of Seleucus II and Laodice II; successor of Seleucus II to the Seleucid throne (225–223 bc). Seleucus III tried to recover territory his father had lost in Asia Minor during the Third Syrian War, but he was killed by conspirators during the campaign. His brother and the younger son of Seleucus II, Antiochus III (Antiochus the Great), succeeded him (see Dan 11:10).
