Cleopatra VII Commonly considered the last pharaoh of Egypt. She ruled 21 years after ascending to the Egyptian throne with the support of Julius Caesar. She gave birth to Ptolemy XV Caesarion, whom she claimed was Caesar’s son. However, Caesar chose as his successor his nephew, Octavian (who became Caesar Augustus). Cleopatra later married one of Octavian’s opponents, Mark Antony, with whom she bore three children. After Octavian defeated Mark Antony in the Battle of Actium, both Antony and Cleopatra committed suicide.
