Psalm 93

¹The Lord reigns,ⁿ he is robed in majesty;^o

the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength;^p

indeed, the world is established,^q firm and secure.^r

²Your throne was established^s long ago;

you are from all eternity.^t

³The seas^u have lifted up, Lord,

the seas have lifted up their voice;^v

the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.^w

⁴Mightier than the thunder^x of the great waters,

mightier than the breakers^y of the sea—

the Lord on high is mighty.^z

⁵Your statutes, Lord, stand firm;

holiness^a adorns your house^b

for endless days.

Psalm 94

¹The Lord is a God who avenges.^c

O God who avenges, shine forth.^d

²Rise up,^e Judge^f of the earth;

pay back^g to the proud what they deserve.

³How long, Lord, will the wicked,

how long will the wicked be jubilant?^h

⁴They pour out arrogantⁱ words;

all the evildoers are full of boasting.^j

⁵They crush your people,^k Lord;

they oppress your inheritance.^l

⁶They slay the widow^m and the foreigner;

they murder the fatherless.ⁿ

⁷They say, “The Lord does not see;^o

the God of Jacob^p takes no notice.”

⁸Take notice, you senseless ones^q among the people;

you fools, when will you become wise?

⁹Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?

Does he who formed the eye not see?^r

¹⁰Does he who disciplines^s nations not punish?

Does he who teaches^t mankind lack knowledge?

¹¹The Lord knows all human plans;^u

he knows that they are futile.^v

¹²Blessed is the one you discipline,^w Lord,

the one you teach^x from your law;

¹³you grant them relief from days of trouble,^y

till a pit^z is dug for the wicked.

¹⁴For the Lord will not reject his people;^a

he will never forsake his inheritance.

¹⁵Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,^b

and all the upright in heart^c will follow it.

¹⁶Who will rise up^d for me against the wicked?

Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?^e

¹⁷Unless the Lord had given me help,^f

I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.^g

¹⁸When I said, “My foot is slipping,^h”

your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.

¹⁹When anxietyⁱ was great within me,

your consolation^j brought me joy.

²⁰Can a corrupt throne^k be allied with you—

a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?^l

²¹The wicked band together^m against the righteous

and condemn the innocentⁿ to death.^o

²²But the Lord has become my fortress,

and my God the rock^p in whom I take refuge.^q

²³He will repay^r them for their sins

and destroy^s them for their wickedness;

the Lord our God will destroy them.

Psalm 95

¹Come,^t let us sing for joy^u to the Lord;

let us shout aloud^v to the Rock^w of our salvation.

²Let us come before him^x with thanksgiving^y

and extol him with music^z and song.

³For the Lord is the great God,^a

the great King^b above all gods.^c

⁴In his hand are the depths of the earth,^d

and the mountain peaks belong to him.

⁵The sea is his, for he made it,

and his hands formed the dry land.^e

⁶Come, let us bow down^f in worship,^g

let us kneel^h before the Lord our Maker;ⁱ

⁷for he is our God

and we are the people of his pasture,^j

the flock under his care.

Today, if only you would hear his voice,

⁸“Do not harden your hearts^k as you did at Meribah,^al

as you did that day at Massah^b in the wilderness,^m

⁹where your ancestors testedⁿ me;

they tried me, though they had seen what I did.

¹⁰For forty years^o I was angry with that generation;

I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,^p

and they have not known my ways.’^q

¹¹So I declared on oath^r in my anger,

‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”^s
