CHAPTER 15
Seven Angels, Seven Plagues
1Then I saw aanother sign in heaven, great and marvelous, bseven angels who have cseven plagues, which are dthe last, because in them the wrath of God is finished.
2Then I saw something like a asea of glass mixed with fire, and those who have bovercome 1the cbeast and dhis image and the enumber of his name, standing on the fsea of glass, having gharps of God.
3And they *sang the asong of Moses, bthe slave of God, and the csong of the Lamb, saying,
“dGreat and marvelous are Your works,
Righteous and true are Your ways,
4“aWho will not fear, O 1Lord, and glorify Your name?
For You alone are holy;
For ball the nations will come and worship before You,
For Your 2crighteous acts have been revealed.”
5And after these things I looked, and athe sanctuary of the btabernacle of testimony in heaven was opened,
6and the aseven angels who have the seven plagues bcame out of the sanctuary, clothed in 1linen, clean and bright, and cgirded around their chests with golden sashes.
7Then one of the afour living creatures gave to the bseven angels seven cgolden bowls full of the dwrath of God, who elives forever and ever.
8And the sanctuary was filled with asmoke from the glory of God and from His power; and no one was able to enter the sanctuary until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished.
CHAPTER 16
The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath
1Then I heard a loud voice from athe sanctuary, saying to the bseven angels, “Go and cpour out 1on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”
2So the first angel went and poured out his bowl 1aon the earth; and it became a loathsome and malignant bsore on the 2people cwho have the mark of the beast and who worship his image.
3And the second angel poured out his bowl ainto the sea, and it became blood like that of a dead man, and every living 1thing in the sea died.
4Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the arivers and the springs of waters, and they bbecame blood.
5And I heard the angel of the waters saying, “aRighteous are You, bwho is and who was, O cHoly One, because You djudged these things;
6for they poured out athe blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them bblood to drink. They 1deserve it.”
7And I heard athe altar saying, “Yes, O 1bLord God, the Almighty, ctrue and righteous are Your judgments.”
8And the fourth angel poured out his bowl upon athe sun, band it was given to it to scorch men with fire.
9And men were scorched with 1fierce heat, and they ablasphemed the name of God who has the authority over these plagues, and they bdid not repent so as to cgive Him glory.
10Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the athrone of the beast, and his kingdom became bdarkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain,
11and they ablasphemed the bGod of heaven because of their pains and their csores, and they ddid not repent of their deeds.
12And the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the agreat river, the Euphrates, and bits water was dried up, so that cthe way would be prepared for the kings dfrom the 1east.
13Then I saw coming out of the mouth of the adragon and out of the mouth of the bbeast and out of the mouth of the cfalse prophet, three dunclean spirits like efrogs;
14for they are aspirits of demons, bdoing signs, which go out to the kings of the cwhole 1world, to dgather them together for the war of the egreat day of God, the Almighty.
15(“Behold, aI am coming like a thief. bBlessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his garments, cso that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.”)
16And they agathered them together to the place which bin Hebrew is called 1cHar-Magedon.
The Seventh Bowl
17Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon athe air, and a bloud voice came out of the csanctuary from the throne, saying, “dIt is done.”
18And there were flashes of alightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was ba great earthquake, csuch as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty.
19aAnd the great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the 1nations fell. bBabylon the great was cremembered before God, to give her dthe cup of the wine of the wrath of His rage.
20And aevery island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
21And ahuge 1hailstones, about one 2talent each, *came down from heaven upon men; and men bblasphemed God because of the cplague of the hail, because its plague *was extremely 3severe.
CHAPTER 17
The Woman and the Beast
1aThen one of the bseven angels who have the cseven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here, I will show you dthe judgment of the egreat harlot who fsits on many waters,
2with whom athe kings of the earth committed 1sexual immorality, and bthose who dwell on the earth were cmade drunk with the wine of her 2sexual immorality.”
3And ahe carried me away 1bin the Spirit cinto a wilderness; then I saw a woman sitting on a dscarlet beast, full of eblasphemous names, having fseven heads and ten horns.
4And the woman awas clothed in purple and scarlet, and 1adorned with gold and precious 2stones and pearls, having in her hand ba gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her 3sexual immorality,
5and on her forehead a name was written, a amystery, “bBABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF cTHE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”
6Then I saw the woman drunk with athe blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered 1greatly.
7And the angel said to me, “Why 1do you wonder? I will tell you the amystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the bseven heads and the ten horns.
8“aThe beast that you saw bwas, and is not, and is about to ccome up out of the dabyss and 1ego to destruction. And fthose who dwell on the earth, gwhose name has not been written in the book of life hfrom the foundation of the world, will iwonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come.
9“aHere is the mind which has wisdom. The bseven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits,
10and they are seven akings; five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain a little while.
11“And the beast which awas and is not, is himself also an eighth and is one of the seven, and he bgoes to destruction.
12“And the aten horns which you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but they receive authority as kings with the beast bfor one hour.
13“These have aone 1purpose, and they give their power and authority to the beast.
14“These will wage awar against the Lamb, and the Lamb will bovercome them, because He is cLord of lords and dKing of kings, and ethose who are with Him are the fcalled and elect and faithful.”
15And he *said to me, “The awaters which you saw where the harlot sits, are bpeoples and crowds and nations and tongues.
16“And the aten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the harlot and will blay waste to her and make her cnaked, and will deat her flesh and will eburn her up with fire.
17“For aGod gave it in their hearts to do His 1purpose both 2by bdoing their own common purpose and by giving their kingdom to the beast, until the cwords of God will be finished.
18“And the woman whom you saw is athe great city, which has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.”
CHAPTER 18
Fallen Is Babylon
1After these things I saw another aangel bcoming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was cillumined with his glory.
2And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “1aFallen, fallen is Babylon the great! And she bhas become a dwelling place of demons and a 2prison of every cunclean spirit, and a 3prison of every unclean bird 4and a 5prison of every unclean and hateful beast.
3“For all the nations 1have drunk of the awine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, and bthe kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality with her, and the cmerchants of the earth have become rich by the power of her 2dsensuality.”
4And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “aCome out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues;
5for her sins have 1apiled up as high as heaven, and God has bremembered her iniquities.
6“aPay her back even as she paid, and 1give her back double according to her deeds; in the bcup which she has mixed, mix double for her.
7“aTo the degree that she glorified herself and blived 1sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and mourning, for she says in her heart, ‘cI sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.’
8“For this reason ain one day her plagues will come, 1pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be bburned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her cis strong.
9“And athe kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and blived 1sensuously with her, will ccry and lament over her when they dsee the smoke of her burning,
10astanding at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, ‘bWoe, woe, cthe great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in done hour your judgment has come.’
11“And the amerchants of the earth bcry and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargo anymore—
12cargo of agold and silver and precious 1stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from precious wood and 2bronze and iron and marble,
13and cinnamon and amomum and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargo of horses and carriages and 1human beings and 2ahuman lives.
14“And the fruit 1you long for has gone from you, and all things that were splendid and shining have passed away from you and men will no longer find them.
15“The amerchants of bthese things, who became rich from her, will cstand at a distance because of the fear of her…
