16aThese things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not bbe offended. 2They shall cput you out of the synagogues: yea, dthe time cometh, ethat whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God fservice. 3And these things will they do unto you, gbecause they have not known the Father, nor me. 4But hthese things have I told you, that when dthe time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And ithese things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. 5But now kI go my way to him that sent me; and lnone of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? 6But because I have said these things unto you, msorrow hath filled your heart. 7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, nthe Comforter owill not come unto you; but pif I depart, qI will send him unto you. 8And when he is come, he will ||rreprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9sOf sin, tbecause they believe not on me; 10uOf righteousness, wbecause I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11xOf judgment, because ythe prince of this world zis judged.

12aI have yet many things to say unto you, bbut ye cannot bear them now. 13Howbeit when he, cthe Spirit of truth, is come, dhe will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and ehe will fshew you things to come. 14He shall gglorify me: for hhe shall receive of mine, and shall fshew it unto you. 15iAll things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that hhe shall take of mine, and shall fshew it unto you. 16kA little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and lye shall see me, mbecause I go to the Father.

17Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, nA little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? 18They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. 19Now Jesus oknew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves of that I said, nA little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? 20Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall pweep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but qyour sorrow shall be turned into joy. 21A rwoman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. 22And ye now therefore have ssorrow: but I will see you again, and tyour heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. 23And uin that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, wWhatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. 24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, xthat your joy may be full. 25These things have I spoken unto you in ||proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in ||proverbs, but I shall shew you yplainly of the Father. 26zAt that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: 27For athe Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have bbelieved bcthat I came out from God. 28cdI came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and ego to the Father.

29His disciples said unto him, Lo, fnow speakest thou plainly, and speakest no ||proverb. 30Now are we sure that gthou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this hwe believe that hithou camest forth from God. 31Jesus answered them, kDo ye now believe? 32Behold, lthe hour cometh, yea, is now come, that mye shall be scattered, nevery man to ||ohis own, and shall leave me alone: and pyet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. 33These things I have spoken unto you, that qin me ye might have peace. In the world rye shall have tribulation: but sbe of good cheer; tI have overcome the world.

17These words spake Jesus, and alifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, bthe hour is come; cglorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2dAs thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to eas many as thou hast given him. 3And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the fonly gtrue God, and Jesus Christ, hwhom thou hast sent. 4iI have glorified thee on the earth: kI have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5And now, O Father, lglorify thou me with thine own self with the glory mwhich I had with thee nbefore the world was.

6oI have manifested thy name unto the men pwhich thou gavest me out of the world: zthine they were, and thou gavest them me; and qthey have kept thy word. 7Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are rof thee. 8For I have given unto them sthe words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and thave known surely that I came out from thee, and they thave ubelieved that wthou didst send me. 9xI pray for them: I ypray not for the world, but for them pwhich thou hast given me; for zthey are thine. 10And all mine are thine, and athine are mine; and I am glorified bin them. 11And now cI am no more in the world, but dthese are in the world, and I come to thee. eHoly Father, fkeep gthrough thine own name those hwhom thou hast given me, ithat they may be one, kas we are. 12While I was with them in the world, I fkept them gin thy name: those hthat thou gavest me I have kept, and lnone of them is lost, but mthe son of perdition; nthat the scripture might be fulfilled. 13oAnd now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have pmy joy fulfilled in themselves. 14qI have given them thy word; and rthe world hath hated them, sbecause they are not of the world, even as tI am not of the world. 15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest fkeep them from uthe evil. 16wThey are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17xSanctify them ythrough thy truth: zthy word is atruth. 18bAs thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19And for their sakes I csanctify myself, that they also might be ||dsanctified through the truth. 20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me ethrough their word; 21That fthey all may be one; as gthou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that hthey also may be one in us: that the world may ibelieve that kthou hast sent me. 22And lthe glory which thou gavest me mI have given them; hthat they may be one, even as we are one: 23gmI in them, and thou in me, that nthey may be made perfect in one; and othat the world may know that kthou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. 24Father, I will that pthey also, qwhom thou hast given me, be with me where rI am; that sthey may behold my glory, lwhich thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me tbefore the foundation of the world. 25O urighteous Father, vthe world hath not known thee: but wI have known thee, and these xhave known that kthou hast sent me. 26And yI have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love zwherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, gand I in them.
