3Thus saith the Lord;

lFor three transgressions of mDamascus,

l||And for four, I will not ||turn away the punishment thereof;

oBecause they have threshed jpGilead with qthreshing instruments of iron:

4rBut I will send a fire into the house of sHazael,

rWhich shall devour the palaces of sBen-hadad.

5I will break also tthe bar of mDamascus,

And cut off the inhabitant from ||uthe plain of uuAven,

And vhim that holdeth the sceptre from ||the house of wEden:

And †xthe people of Syria shall go into captivity xunto yKir, saith the Lord.

and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of Aven,

and him who holds the scepter from Beth-eden;
