Jonah 2:1–10
2 Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside p the fish: q
2 I called to the Lord in my distress, r
and He answered me.
I cried out for help in the belly of * Sheol; s
You heard my voice. t
3 You threw me into the depths, u
into the heart of the seas, v
and the current w overcame me.
All Your breakers and Your billows swept over me. x
4 But I said: I have been banished y
from Your sight, z
yet I will look once more a
toward Your holy temple. b
5 The waters engulfed me up to the neck; c d
the watery depths overcame me;
seaweed was wrapped around my head. e
6 I sank to the foundations of the mountains; f
the earth with its prison bars closed behind me forever! g
But You raised my life h from the * Pit, Lord my God! i
7 As my life was fading away, j
My prayer came to You, l
to Your holy temple. m
8 Those who cling to worthless idols n
forsake faithful love, o
9 but as for me, I will sacrifice p to You
with a voice of thanksgiving. q
I will fulfill r what I have vowed.
Salvation s is from the Lord! t
10 Then the Lord commanded the fish, u and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.
