KING OF THE EARTH

1 Sing a new song to the Lord;

let the whole earth sing to the Lord.ag

2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name;

proclaim his salvation from day to day.ah

3 Declare his glory among the nations,

his wondrous works among all peoples.a

4 For the Lord is great and is highly praised;

he is feared above all gods.b

5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,

but the Lord made the heavens.c

6 Splendor and majesty are before him;

strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.d

7 Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples,

ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.e

8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name;f

bring an offering and enter his courts.g

9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness;h

let the whole earth tremble before him.i

10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.j

The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken.k

He judges the peoples fairly.”l

11 Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice;

let the sea and all that fills it resound.m

12 Let the fields and everything in them celebrate.

Then all the trees of the forest will shout for joyn

13 before the Lord, for he is coming—

for he is coming to judge the earth.

He will judge the world with righteousness

and the peoples with his faithfulness.o

Psalm 97

THE MAJESTIC KING

1 The Lord reigns! Let the earth rejoice;

let the many coasts and islands be glad.p

2 Clouds and total darkness surround him;

righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.q

3 Fire goes before him

and burns up his foes on every side.r

4 His lightning lights up the world;

the earth sees and trembles.s

5 The mountains melt like wax

at the presence of the Lord—

at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.t

6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness;u

all the peoples see his glory.v

7 All who serve carved images,

those who boast in worthless idols, will be put to shame.w

All the gods* must worship him.x

8 Zion hears and is glad,

Judah’s villagesB rejoice

because of your judgments, Lord.y

9 For you, Lord,

are the Most High over the whole earth;

you are exalted above all the gods.z

10 You who love the Lord, hate evil!aa

He protects the lives of his faithful ones;ab

he rescues them from the power of the wicked.ac

11 Light dawns* D for the righteous,

gladness for the upright in heart.ad

12 Be glad in the Lord, you righteous ones,

and give thanks to his holy name.E,ae

Psalm 98

PRAISE THE KING

A psalm.

1 Sing a new song to the Lord,af

for he has performed wonders;

his right hand and holy arm

have won him victory.ag

2 The Lord has made his victory known;

he has revealed his righteousness

in the sight of the nations.ah

3 He has remembered his love

and faithfulness to the house of Israel;

all the ends of the earth

have seen our God’s victory.ai

4 Let the whole earth shout to the Lord;

be jubilant, shout for joy, and sing.a

5 Sing to the Lord with the lyre,

with the lyre and melodious song.b

6 With trumpets and the blast of the trumpet

shout triumphantly

in the presence of the Lord, our King.c

7 Let the sea and all that fills it,

the world and those who live in it, resound.d

8 Let the rivers clap their hands;

let the mountains shout together for joye

9 before the Lord,

for he is coming to judge the earth.

He will judge the world righteously

and the peoples fairly.f

Psalm 99

THE KING IS HOLY

1 The Lord reigns! Let the peoples tremble.

He is enthroned between the cherubim.g

Let the earth quake.h

2 The Lord is great in Zion;

he is exalted above all the peoples.i

3 Let them praise your great

and awe-inspiring name.j

He is holy.k

4 The mighty King loves justice.

You have established fairness;

you have administered justice

and righteousness in Jacob.l

5 Exalt the Lord our God;

bow in worship at his footstool.m

He is holy.n

6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests;o

Samuel also was among those calling on his name.

They called to the Lord and he answered them.p

7 He spoke to them in a pillar of cloud;q

they kept his decrees and the statutes he gave them.

8 Lord our God, you answered them.

You were a forgiving God to them,r

but an avenger of their sinful actions.s

9 Exalt the Lord our God;

bow in worship at his holy mountain,

for the Lord our God is holy.t
