Psalm 112
THE TRAITS OF THE RIGHTEOUS
1Hallelujah!E
Happy is the person who fears the Lord,
taking great delight in his commands.o
2His descendants will be powerful in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.p
3Wealth and riches are in his house,q
and his righteousness endures forever.r
4Light shines in the darkness for the upright.s
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.t
5Good will come to the one who lends generously
and conducts his business fairly.u
6He will never be shaken.v
The righteous one will be remembered forever.w
7He will not fear bad news;
his heart is confident, trusting in the Lord.x
8His heart is assured; he will not fear.y
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.z
9He distributes freely to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.aa
His horn will be exalted in honor.ab
10The wicked one will see it and be angry;
he will gnash his teeth in despair.ac
The desire of the wicked leads to ruin.ad
Psalm 113
PRAISE TO THE MERCIFUL GOD
1Hallelujah!
Give praise, servants of the Lord;
praise the name of the Lord.ae
2Let the name of the Lord be blessed
both now and forever.af
3From the rising of the sun to its setting,
let the name of the Lord be praised.ag
4The Lord is exalted above all the nations,ah
his glory above the heavens.ai
5Who is like the Lord our God—
the one enthroned on high,aj
6who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?ak
7He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the trash heapal
8in order to seat them with nobles—
with the nobles of his people.am
9He gives the childless woman a household,
making her the joyful mother of children.an
Hallelujah!
