INJUSTICIA HUMANA Y JUSTICIA DIVINA
Job respondió así:
Muchas cosas parecidas he oído,
el consuelo de ustedes sólo es agobio.
¿Acabará tanta palabra vana?
¿Dime qué es lo que te impulsa a replicar?
¿Les hablaría yo como ustedes
si por ventura estuvieran en mi lugar?
¿Los atacaría lanzando discursos
y agitaría la cabeza contra ustedes?
¡No! Mis palabras los confortarían,
mis labios los tranquilizarían.
Pero si hablo, no se alivia mi dolor;
si me callo, permanece junto a mí.
Ahora el dolor me tiene agotado,
(restas valor a mi testimonio y me acosas).
Mi agotamiento se ha convertido en testigo
que se alza y me acusa a la cara.
Su cólera me ataca y me desgarra;
me enseña sus dientes rechinando
y me observa con ojos hostiles.
La gente se burla en mi cara,
me afrentan dándome bofetadas,
todos se alían contra mí.
Dios me entrega a gente injusta,
me arroja en manos de malvados.
Vivía yo tranquilo y me zarandeó,
me asió por la nuca y me hizo trizas;
me convirtió en su diana,
sus arqueros me pusieron cerco;
me atravesó las entrañas sin piedad,
regando la tierra con mi hiel.
Me desgarró cubriéndome de brechas,
atacándome lo mismo que un guerrero.
He cosido un saco a mi piel,
he enterrado en el polvo mi honor.
El llanto enrojece mi rostro,
mis ojos sombríos reflejan la muerte,
aunque no he obrado con violencia
ni es interesada mi oración.
¡Tierra, no cubras mi sangre!
¡Que el sepulcro no ahogue mi grito!
Mi testigo está ahora en el cielo,
mi defensor habita en lo alto
—es mi grito quien habla por mí,
aguardo inquieto la respuesta divina—;
que juzgue entre Dios y el ser humano,
como es habitual entre mortales,
pues me esperan años contados
y recorreré un camino sin vuelta.
