Proverbs: Annotated & Explained is unavailable, but you can change that!

The biblical Book of Proverbs was compiled in the seventh century BCE and credited to King Solomon. In this fresh translation, Rami Shapiro unpacks the book, writing that its wisdom transcends time and place and instructs readers to live simply, without rationalizations and excuses.

7:24–25 Is there no defense against desire? Listen to me, and heed the words of my mouth: Let wisdom reign in your heart,68 and do not race after every emotion. Do not assume that pleasure is the same as goodness or that feelings are a guide to righteousness. Desire has slain many mightier than you. The way of undisciplined desire leads only to the grave, the chambers of death are full of those who lacked the strength.
