31:10–31 The book of Proverbs concludes with a poem from Lemuel’s mother about the noble, wise wife. The poem is an alphabet acrostic, which means that the first verse starts with the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and each succeeding verse starts with the next letter of the Hebrew alphabet, until all 22 letters have been used. An acrostic aids memorization. From A to Z, so to speak, the woman described is a noble wife. Perhaps Lemuel’s mother intended to instruct her son on the type of woman
