Proverbs: Annotated & Explained is unavailable, but you can change that!

The biblical Book of Proverbs was compiled in the seventh century BCE and credited to King Solomon. In this fresh translation, Rami Shapiro unpacks the book, writing that its wisdom transcends time and place and instructs readers to live simply, without rationalizations and excuses.

30:5–9 [These are the words of the Knower:]3 Every word I speak is honed by God. God is my shield from delusion. I warn you: do not add to the word of God; your lies will be tested and exposed. I ask of God but two things, may they be granted before I die: keep me from vanity and falsehood, wealth and poverty; provide me with a little bread each day, just enough to sustain me. Any more and I may imagine it my own doing; any less and I might turn to theft and lies.4
