I. * aThe burden of bNineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the

cElkoshite.

2  * dGod is jealous, and ethe Lord revengeth;

The Lord revengeth, and * is furious;

The Lord will take vengeance fon his adversaries,

And ghe reserveth wrath for his enemies.

3  The Lord is hslow to anger, and igreat in power,

And kwill not at all acquit the wicked:

lThe Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in mthe storm,

And the clouds are the dust of his feet.

4  nHe rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry,

And drieth up all the rivers:

opBashan qlanguisheth, and opCarmel,

And the flower of oLebanon qlanguisheth.

5  rThe mountains quake at him, and sthe hills melt,

And the earth tis burnt at his presence,

Yea, uthe world, and all that dwell therein.

6  vwWho can stand before his indignation?

And who can * abide in xthe fierceness of his anger?

His fury yis poured out wlike fire,

And zthe rocks are thrown down by him.

7  aThe Lord is good, ba * strong hold in the day of trouble;

And che knoweth dthem that trust in him.

8  But with ean overrunning flood he will fmake an utter end of gthe place thereof,

And darkness shall pursue his enemies.

9  What hdo ye imagine against the Lord?

fHe will make an utter end:

Affliction shall not rise up ithe second time.

10  For while they be kfolden together las thorns,

And mwhile they be drunken as drunkards,

nThey shall be devoured as stubble nnfully dry.

11  There is one come out of thee, hothat imagineth evil against the Lord,

* oA wicked counseller.

12  Thus saith the Lord;

* Though they be pquiet, and likewise many,

Yet thus qshall they be * cut down, when he shall rpass through.

sThough I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.

13  For now twill I break his yoke from off thee,

And twill burst thy bonds in sunder.

14  And the Lord hath given a commandment concerning thee,

That uno more of thy name be sown:

vOut of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image:

I vwill make thy grave; for wthou art vile.

15  Behold xupon the mountains ythe feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace.

O Judah, * keep thy solemn feasts, zperform thy vows:

For * othe wicked shall no more rapass through thee;

vHe is utterly cut off.
