(9:14–17) Some remaining disciples of John come to Jesus and ask why his disciples do not fast. Jesus responds with three analogies: the bridegroom’s attendants do not mourn when they are with the bridegroom; unshrunken cloth is not used to patch old garments; and new wine is not put into old wineskins.
