The pagan Greek worshippers would therefore in our English language be called saints, for this word coming from the Latin means “holy.” The pagan Greeks were holy, not in the sense of our word “holy” which has a certain content of meaning, namely, pure, righteous, free from sin, but holy in the sense of their set-apartness for the worship of their deities. When they acquired the characteristics of their gods, they were
