The mind of the Spirit represents the individual controlled by the Holy Spirit and yielded to His desires and goals. The mind (strivings, thoughts, etc.) of the flesh is death, for it is at variance with God and will not submit to Him. On the other hand, the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, for its goals are the will of God and His pleasure. To Paul, only these two “minds” exist. There is no in-between “lukewarm” mind.
