3:12. As is the selfish nature of one guilty of sin and not ready to admit responsibility, Adam tried to shift the blame. He implied the woman was responsible. But Adam was not simply shifting the blame to her, but like all unrepentant sinners, tried to put the blame on God as well, for God gave him the woman. He as much as said, “If you hadn’t given me this woman it wouldn’t have happened.” God did not accept this, however, and put the responsibility back on Adam, as verse 17 shows. God questioned
