6:8. “Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother” brought his brother Simon to Jesus (1:41). John also tells us in 1:44 that Andrew was of the same city as Philip. This probably indicates a close friendship between the two. 6:9. “There is a lad here.” Who the lad was and why he had the small supply, we are not told. The lad here is called a paidarion which is a double diminutive of pais. Paidarion is rarely used, but it does recall the story of Elisha in 2 Kings 4 where his servant Gehazi is called a paidarion.
