As workmen are moved to be more diligent in service when they hear their master’s footfall, so, doubtless, saints are quickened in their devotion when they are conscious that He whom they worship is drawing near. He has gone away to the Father for a while, and so He has left us alone in this world; but He has said, “I will come again and receive you unto Myself,” and we are confident that He will keep His word.
