It is a very curious thing that some of God’s servants do draw a very great deal of consolation from comparatively trivial things. We are all the creatures of sentiment as well as of reason, and hence we are often strongly affected by little things. But what a pity it is that we should need such little bits of things to cheer us up, when we have matters of far surer import to make us glad! Let us pray for those who never pray for themselves: God’s power can do for them what is far beyond our power.
