Just as chapter 7 interrupted the sequence of seven seals to build up suspense for the finale in the seventh seal, so too 10:1–11:13 interrupts the sequence of seven trumpets to build up suspense for the finale in the seventh trumpet, which will be the third and final woe (8:13). These interruptions delay John’s accounts of the seventh in each sequence, but not the fulfillments of each seventh. The present interruption divides into the canceling of seven thunderclaps
