In response to a sermon in which Bunyan heard "see that your cause be good, else Christ will not undertake it," Bunyan writes on the Advocacy of Christ on behalf of all, whether they be wicked or devout. This work focuses on how Advocacy comes only through Christ and that apart from him, man is left with no one before God.

be true, what shall I do, and what will become of all this people, yea, and of this preacher too?
