Those that would separate the body and the soul may qualify for Scripture’s barbed rebukes against Gnosticism, which denigrates or reproaches the body. Those that would overly meld the body and the soul may be guilty of physicalism, which views humanity as composed of one part and understates the danger of forfeiting the soul (Matt. 16:26).
