Christian counselors constantly need new information, an awareness of emerging issues, an evaluation of techniques and procedures, not to mention all the practical and organizational help that can make the task of counseling more effeciant and more effective.

that God will work through His Word in counseling sessions, why shouldn’t he believe also that God will continue to work when the session is over? In a sense, what he believes about his counseling in general (God is/isn’t at work in it) makes all the difference about his attitude between sessions. The answer, then, is not to stand aloof, or develop an insensitive and callous attitude or anything of the sort. The answer is trust—trust in God’s promises both within and outside the counseling session.
