REPENTANCE In most instances in the New Testament the object of one’s change of mind in repentance is not identified (God “commands all men everywhere to repent,” Acts 17:30; and “they should repent,” 26:20). Other times repentance is be “toward God” (20:21). In other passages repentance is said to be in reference to sin (8:22; 2 Cor. 12:21; Rev. 9:20–21). Therefore Cook suggests that “repentance is that conscious change of attitude (mind), both spiritual and moral, regarding God, on the one hand,
