In other words, the Bible never encourages us to believe something that isn’t true. So when the Bible wants to increase the faith of its readers, it does not say, “Believe, believe, believe. Shut up, and don’t ask questions. Just believe!” Rather, the way faith is increased is by articulating and defending the truth. And then, finally, it says, in fact, if you believe that Jesus rose from the dead when, in fact, He hasn’t risen from the dead, it means that your life is a joke. “You are, of all people,”
