The name Jesus is very similar to the OT name Joshua. In fact, it’s the same name in the Greek translation, so it’s a very common name, and what it means, basically, is “Yahweh is salvation.” Yahweh, of course, is the personal name of God. So when we say the name Joshua, Yeshua, Jesus, what we’re saying is the reality that Yahweh is salvation.
