Alister McGrath wrote, in Jesus, “the creator enters” His creation “not as a curious tourist, but as a committed Savior.” This astonishing fact of self-emptying and humility is celebrated in the Christian festival of Christmas, when we recall the one who, though rich beyond splendor, became poor for our sake. As the Nicene Creed puts it, “For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven.” That’s what we’re going to follow through in this course.
