Reformers always derived their doctrine from Scripture, because they believed that Scripture was the Word of God and they wanted to distinguish their doctrine from the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church, which they believed were too dependent upon human teachers, particularly the pope, but also what the Roman church called the “magisterium.” So, they wanted to focus very sharply on Scripture. That meant that Scripture was the Word of God, Scripture is the perfect Word of God, it is inerrant,
