prophecy often—I think most often—was meant to be motivational. It was preaching. It was challenging. It was attempting to get God’s people to change their ways, to repent of their sins, to trust in God, and all of that. Sometimes, in order to motivate them and to encourage them, there were predictions or promises or things built into that. But it was never simply to create a chart which showed what the future would look like, to lay out all the events in sequence. A prophecy really isn’t tomorrow’s
