As well as the links with chapters 5 and 9, in terms of the chronology of events, chapter 6 is the third of three conflict chapters (Chs. 1; 3 and 6) focusing on Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah as they live as exiles in Babylon. In chapter 1 the focus is on all four, in chapter 3 on Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, but here in chapter 6 the spotlight falls on Daniel.
