Matthew 9:1–3 Matthew has trimmed the verbage of this pericope down to a minimum. The only addition is in Mt 9:2b, which see. Luke’s version, on the other hand, is slightly longer. He has added the fact that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law present, and where they came from. He notes the man was placed “right in front of Jesus”. He says the man who was healed went home. And finally, he was more verbose regarding the amazement of the witnesses. Luke claimed to have carefully investigated
