What are the reasons? One is pride. We may be sure that our opinions are right and others’ are wrong. If our opinions are rejected, we may think that somehow reflects on our worth as persons. So we fight with every weapon at our disposal to win the argument and protect our self-esteem. Another reason is inadequate information. We may be too quick to judge others. We form opinions on the basis of a few isolated experiences, or we believe somebody else’s assessment of them, and then we jump to conclusions
