none of these sacrifices did any permanent good. They pointed ahead to Jesus; but in themselves, they accomplished nothing. That points out the contrast to the work of our great High Priest. v. 12—But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. Three times emphasis is placed on the one-time nature of this work. This priest offered only one sacrifice (μίαν . . . θυσίαν); no further sacrifices were necessary. This he did for all time.
