Everyone in the end shares the destiny of the god he or she worships. This, then, would be the proper way to define the love of God, and the love of Jesus his Son. There are those who, because of their worship of the Father through the Son, experience an intimate love where “the very hairs of your head are numbered” (Matt 10:30), and yet there also will be those who in Jesus’ next breath are “denied before my Father who is in heaven” because of their choice to be disloyal to the Son (Matt 10:33).
